Atlanta, GA

Atlanta - beautiful, beautiful city but way too crowded for me to ever want to move there. The only other time I have been there was to the airport and we all know how little you get to enjoy the beauty of cities when you're visiting their airports.

Georgia Tech has a huge campus and an awesome workout facility with an even more amazing pool. The trip itself wasn't really anything special and I actually wanted to come home more than to do work. However, the meet was quick and close. WKU pulled out a win on both sides, men won by 2 and women by 5 points.

A week later, 300 edited pics, all now uploaded - just hope for sales. Had over 4,000 views but sales would be cool too! And I will definitely go back to Atlanta to work - as long as I didn't have to drive, got a police escort again, and was only there a short amount of time. That'd be perfect!

Oh, add in a photo editor who would work for free and I'll be set!

Prints available for purchase, just visit my website to view all the edit.

South Carolina / Vandy Meet

Few life lessons from this meet - never, and need I repeat NEVER forget about the divers. It will be off with your heads and the anger from parents will rain upon you!

Other than that, this meet was a lot of fun to shoot. Nashville's aquatic center isn't the best for lighting which usually leaves a lot of room for editing and messing around with settings during the meet. We travel to Georgia Tech this weekend so hopefully their natatorium will be a little bit better taken care of - since it did host the '96 Olympics.

My pictures are up and selling already after I sent an email to all the swimmer and diver parents. Very exciting to know that I am a little bit appreciated by some.

I need to learn how to better take pictures of divers because of all the ones that I do have are not worthy of showing to the parents. Need help!

Keeneland Workshop

First photo class field trip, traveled to Lexington, Ky and spent a day at the races at Keeneland. We set up two remote cameras and had full access to the track. Long, but awesome day.

[Above: Catch Twenty Two leads the pack at the first turn of the last race of the day. Thanks to a little help and advice from a new friend, I was able to shoot the last race at this angle.]

[Above: Jockey, Michael Blaze sails to victory on Loves to Fly in the second race at Keeneland on Friday, October 16, 2010. I was able to climb on the roof and shoot down onto the track for this shot.]

[Above: Julien Leparoux along with Ender's Universe come up short in the first race. This was the first time I ever was able to shoot with a 400 f/2.8 lens - it was so heavy but so much fun to use for one race. Definitely would love to have one of them in the future!]

Pictures will be uploaded to my smugmug account soon.

5th Week Blah

As I enter my fifth week of turning in captions for features, and printing out invoices for teachers... I sadly have to see the "Portrait Package" folder and realize that for this week, my name will not be placed inside that folder.

I have ideas! I get really good ones in my head and I can see how I would light a scene and beautiful visuals - but then I don't have the resources to make those visuals come to life. This week I wasn't able to get a hold of the people that I wanted to get a hold of and if I did make contacts most emails were left unanswered. Plus, it's so hard to not be able to use the materials that are right in front of me. I'm around swimmers daily from working with the team and I am now "banned" from using anymore swimmers this semester - which is understandable because I know he wants us to use variety and stuff but I just don't have the time that I would like to put into better work.

Awful I know.

My goal is to get a B this year in photo and I think if I can prove that I can get it in Practicum then I should have been able to get it in all my other classes. But as of right now I am not doing so well and I don't know if my attitude is because I am tired of doing school work or if I am just tired of not fulfilling my potential in photo class. I personally think I deserved higher grades on my sports stuff but at the same time I cannot complain about the grades I did get because they're relatively higher than the rest of my grades.

I just don't know why I feel like this. It could be a lot worse with our weekly assignments and right now I am not happy because I couldn't do portraits?! Portraits are the next "easiest" thing in my mind because everything is controlled.

Maybe fall break will help give me the time I need to get focused again. Let's hope so anyways because I am going to do everything I can to either get a B, or as close as possible to it.
